A single range of liquidity is a single strand. Laid alone it holds a load only where it lies, and it lies in one place. Trade moves the price, and the strand is left slack or torn.

TWYNE braids three. Strand α is tight, laid close about the price where the depth is wanted. Strand β is wide, and carries the standing load. Strand γ is full, from nought to infinity, and never runs dry. They are rated twenty, fifty, thirty by weight, and they are laid into one rope, the Loom, which is what the depositor holds.

A swap sent to the rope is not routed. It is braided. The Router divides it across the three strands in the proportions the rope can bear, and the Hook records the test: the amount in, the amount out, and the advantage in basis points over the same amount sent down one strand. The record is a certificate. It can be printed.

Strands drift under load. When any strand departs its rated weight by more than five in a hundred, the braid may be tensioned by anyone, and the weights return to rating. No keeper is appointed. No fee is taken for the tensioning. The rope maintains itself, or it is maintained by whoever passes.

Every figure on this page is read from the chain at a block whose number is printed on the plate. Nothing here is estimated.
